Year 7 – 9 Curriculum

At Springbank Secondary College we recognise that every student has different strengths across different areas of learning, allowing support and extension to adapt as their needs change. By responding to individual progress in this way, we create the best opportunities for every student to build confidence, close learning gaps, extend their capabilities and experience success.

Our flexible model has a significant focus on building the essential skills to be successful in the senior years and pathways beyond school. At the cost of studying a language, Year 7 and 8 includes additional time for literacy and numeracy. To support these lessons, teachers collect and unpack student data and evidence of learning to identify individual strengths and areas for development. This information is used during literacy and numeracy lessons to divide students into similar support requirement groups for targeted intervention and stretch activities. Using this approach means our young people receive the learning support they need, at the time they need it, from the experts in the room, to fill any gaps in their learning and build success.

The teaching and learning program at Springbank Secondary College is underpinned by the South Australian Curriculum and the Australian Curriculum, ensuring students experience a rigorous, engaging and future-focused education. These curriculum frameworks provide a strong foundation for the delivery of high-quality learning across a broad range of learning areas, supporting the development of deep knowledge, transferable skills and the capabilities required for success beyond school. Through inclusive, evidence-informed teaching practices and meaningful learning experiences, students are encouraged to think critically, solve problems creatively and actively engage in their learning while pursuing pathways that align with their interests, strengths and aspirations.
