In line with the Department for Education’s improvement strategy for student access to devices, our Governing Council has approved the BYOD program for Springbank Secondary College students.

The program will be managed by Learning with Technologies (LWT). This company has successfully implemented BYOD programs and technical support to many schools across Australia with a proven track record of timely provision of devices, flexible payment options and prompt support.

Accommodations in the BYOD program include:
The below listed students will have the option to loan a school device or purchase a device via LWT

  • School Card students
  • Year 11 and 12 students in 2025
  • Year 12 students in 2026

Loan devices will be on a termly basis with the following conditions:

  • Submission loan of equipment form
  • Submission of commitment to pay form
  • Payment of hire fee - $30 per term (Total of $120 year for Year 11 and $90 for Year 12)
  • Any damages to be paid for by the family
  • Devices to be returned at the end of the year and for software updates when required.

We ask that all students participating in the AIE Vet course contact the school to discuss device options before purchase because the recommended devices through LWT will not be sufficient for this course.

More details on the device program are provided in the attached pamphlet.
If you have any questions, please contact the school on 81526800.

BYOD Program Frequently Asked Questions

Has the school considered the cost of the BYOD program to parents?

Yes. The school has researched the needs of the students and opted for Chromebooks instead of Laptops reducing the cost to the families by roughly $800 compared to other schools. The Governing Council recommended that the availability of four types of Chromebooks is best with parents having the option to invest toward a device that their child has the capacity to keep (as they own it).
My child is in Year 11 in 2025. Should I not engage in the BYOD program, will my child be allocated their own school laptop to use while they are enrolled? It is optional. However, the school will ensure that students have access to loan devices at $30 per term so they can maintain their educational program requirements. These devices will need to be borrowed and suitably cared for by students.

Is the program compulsory?

No, however we highly encourage students to bring their own device in line with Department for Education digital strategy which aims to achieve device access to all students. A school-owned loan device will be provided in the instance where a student does not have his or her own device to utilise (e.g. it is being repaired, left at home etc.)

When should I start looking at device options and make a decision?

The parent portal will be ready by 01 September 2024. Further information and the portal link are detailed in the attached pamphlet. Parents can start the process early to have the option of paying by installments for the device to be released. Alternatively finance options will available through Latitude or Zip.
I have a notebook computer already – can I use it at the School? No. We encourage all students to purchase the device through the BYOD program as these are recommend devices that meet the specifications with onsite after sale servicing.

What software should my device have installed?

Your device will be initially delivered to the school to be imaged and installation of required software
